Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem (2015)

Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem (2015) is probably one of the weakest animated Batman films in existence. It has a few moments of entertainment to watch, but it never fully captivated me. It might be okay for younger audiences, but even they deserve a more coherent story structure. It isn’t horrible, but it is certainly nothing to brag about either.

The plot is thin, and a repeat of the previous Unlimited film, the voice direction delivers poor derivatives of other actors, rather than new interpretations, and the runtime is too long and stretched out with numerous fight scenes, which start to drag towards the end. But unlike the first of the series you can actually free download the movie, here the mandate to include toy models makes things pretty fun as it embraces its randomness leading to some very out there moments. Add in some strong character beats, fan service and knowing dialogue and this is a curiosity that makes it worth checking out for Batman fans, if harder to recommend to others to watch online in HD.
