If you look at art and culture as a mirror of its time, I guess this movie is pretty much a perfect reflection. It’s depressing, ugly and completely nihilistic. Most scenes are unpleasant, except for one where the main character is with his ex girlfriend and their little son and we catch a glimpse of what could have been a happy family, in a less decrepit world. The protagonists are either criminal scumbags or lost souls, drifting through life with no goals, no ideals, apparently nothing to live for. Poisonous wretches roaming around in a dying society and infecting everyone around them who has still some remnants of a decent human being. Oh and of course they had to make the blonde woman go out with a black man again. That seems to be the law now. Or maybe it’s also meant as a metaphor for the state of our world. Either way, it’s disgusting and miserable. Well made though, I’ll give them that.
