Northern Soul. Set in Britain in the 1970's when Northern Soul music was just starting to become popular. The movie itself follows two young teenagers who are just discovering themselves and the music who become a pair of almost inseparable friends. Trying their hand at getting on the soul club music scene shows their envy and dismay into the world of illegal drugs in amongst all other growing up factors. Music soundtrack is awesome and a brief starring role from Steve Coogan. Its an average movie, shows the deep love of northern soul. Not enough going on within the movie and not enough character development.

From the moment the film starts to its finale, every scene was a joy to watch with it's full gamut of emotions throughout. Star turns take second billing to the fantastic young leads of the film who steal the show. If you're able to watch without feeling an inner need to strut your stuff (and I'm a real none dancer) then your pulse must be zero as the soul soundtrack is groovy. The real winning factor of the film though is it's capturing of the 70's spirit and feel. Life was simpler but a dark thread still wove through Lancashire. A must see with no doubt.
