The Kitchen (2019)

The Kitchen is a 2019 crime-drama based on the DC Vertigo series of the same name. The film was written and directed by Andrea Berloff, and stars Melissa McCarthy as Kathy Brennan, Elisabeth Moss as Claire Walsh and Tiffany Haddish as Ruby O’Carroll. The production and performances were quite strong, but sadly the film was very tonally and structurally confused. 

Even thought the story was linear it just felt this story was staggered and jaded and please remember that i watch the movie online. The story tried to tackle way too much and thought it was much more intricate and smart than it really was. Character development was also lacking. One moment you have a women broken due to being beaten and then 5 minutes later, she loves killing people and free download. The acting all the way around was ok. Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish both didn’t excel in roles that contained no comedic outlet. They look depressed in their roles just as much as I was depressed watching what was happening on the screen. The movie tried to tackle way too much story-wise. If the plot was cut back a little bit I could see this being a somewhat better movie, but overall I thought this movie was just bad all the way around.
