In the year 2017, the world economy has collapsed. The great freedoms of the United States are no longer, as the once great nation has sealed off its borders and become a militarized police state, censoring all film, art, literature, and communications. Even so, a small resistance force led by two revolutionaries manages to fight the oppression. With full control over the media, the government attempts to quell the nation's yearning for freedom by broadcasting a number of game shows on which convicted criminals fight for their lives. The most popular and sadistic of these programs is "The Running Man," hosted by Damon Killian. When a peaceful protest of starving citizens gathers in Bakersfield, California, a police officer named Ben Richards is ordered to fire on the crowd, which he refuses to do. Subdued by the other officers, the attack is carried out, and Richards is framed for the murder of almost a hundred unarmed civilians. Following a daring jail break months later, Richards is

A shot for shot schlockfest. The original Cabin Fever has more than enough detractors, understandably so. The combination of hyper campy explotation and spatterfest gore makes for an uncomfortably hour and a half (that's why I adore it) - in fact, as a unapologetic Eli Roth fanboy I find it hard to understand why Roth not only signed off on this unnecessary remake but also co-produced. The charm and camp of the original has been replaced by...well...I guess you could say it's gorier? There, half a start for a bit more blood. Ultimately this is a lifeless, irritatingly pointless excercise.

I didn't see the original film or the sequels, so I approached this remake with an open mind. This version of "Cabin Fever" is a cross between "Night of the Living Dead" and John Carpenter's "The Thing." There is a sense of doom, and paranoia grows among the principles as the film goes on. One scene in the film struck me as very funny. One of the principles exits a shed to find three "bad guys." The "hero" tries to shoot the three with his rifle but it doesn't fire. One of the bad guys says, "No, you got the safety on." The hero looks down, clicks the safety off, and then mows down all three badies. I mean, how stupid do you want to be?!

It is interesting that Roth in interviews beats himself up a little when he says his original script at 22 years old was shite. This remake is an interesting comparison f how the direction and actor can affect the content. Personally I think Roth is brilliant and this attempt shows how substance really shines through. The original Cabin Fever is one of my all time favorites in part due to its' campy humor. Yet done by a different director with the black comedy pushed aside it still holds up as a genuinely good flick. If you are a regular horror fan than tis one is decent. If you are looking for that other brand than stick with Roth's films. Thank you Eli.

Terrible, awful and hurt to watch! I can't believe they remade the same movie for a second time, also directed by the same director for a second time and turned into even more shit for a second time. This movie honestly makes the first cabin fever 2002 look like a descant movie.
